Three Female Artists' Approach on Femininity and Female Identity
I've recently discovered three young female artists, with a fresh, rejuvenating, and highly feminine approach. May Lin Le Goff, who currently has a show at the Chelsea Market, is a recent SVA grad, delving in photography and collage. Goff has a keen eye for high style, with her subjects posing in cherry lips, elegant bouffants, and neon-colored manicures. Panni Malekzadeh oil-based paintings transport you to an alternate world where courtesans lounge around in neon-lit brothels, unicorns are supportive figures, and you find yourself navigating through a hazy yet mystical environment. Artist Lina Viktor, who is London bred and New York based has a sharp, geometric, and gilt infused aesthetic. Playing with Rococo, Baroque, and Versace fashion nostalgia, Viktor is the queen of hearts in her universe.
