Bert Stern, the Man Who Mythologized Marilyn Monroe to the World

Bert Stern, the Man Who Mythologized Marilyn Monroe to the World

Revered photography master Bert Stern passed away on June 26 at his Manhattan home. Stern leaves an illustrious body of work and that has left a permanent imprint on modern culture and taste. Stern created historic and iconic images such as Marilyn Monroe's final photo shoot titled 'The Last Sitting' and Sue Lyon's coquettish pout on the movie poster for 'Lolita'.  Between his commercial and celebrity clients he worked with such film luminaries such as as Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Barbra Streisand and of course Marilyn Monroe. Stern revolutionized a woman's image, by embracing sensuality and using a sophisticated high fashion approach. He has helped establish the template for modernity and sexuality  through stimulating imagery.
